Trip #23 3/12 - 3/19
Well we're back to the old Air Jamaica. Flights are being cancelled or delayed due to F.A.A. inspections and Butch no longer running things. Needless to say we got there using our 7th heaven tickets. The weather was great; no rain which is now becoming a problem since they consider themselves in a drought. Can't seem to remember last time I saw staff watering the grass. The food this trip was great, lobster tail night was like old times and they even set up temp pasta stations to cook individual plates of food based on your preference. The new chef is doing a great job... We were also judges in a beauty pageant, which was a lot of fun. The ladies worked hard getting the votes needed to win. From handing out freebees to putting on your sunscreen they did it all, which was a nice touch. Scumba is being bounced from bar to bar as needed. The piano bar is dead. So far no one is taking Dave's place. I think now with the no smoking rule and Dave gone everyone is into a new routine. The PDA's were everywhere so forget the new enforcement of the old RULES. I saw no one stopping anything at any time of the day. Only thing that seemed to get some enforcement was requests to take clothes off over by the nude bar from the guards. Nude Pool Bar... Now open till 5am. Also this week they were replacing the roof. They were doing the work from 7pm - 11pm. The problem is that every morning small nails were everywhere around the bar, in the pool, on the concrete and on the sand. I picked up about 50 nails on morning and gave up when I looked inside the pool. I took the nails and handed them to the front desk as a gift. Diet Pepsi. Every day it was out. The only supply they had were bottles and when it ran out they served regular as diet and said nothing. I tried explaining that you can't do that if the person is a diabetic but they didn't listen. Room 2171. Beware the drain kept losing the water in the trap so the sewer smell would come up into the shower stall. To fix it I had to run water in the shower to fill the trap. If someone in another room flushed a toilet the water in my trap got sucked out and back we were again with the smell. Needless to say we don't spend allot of time in the room but it was a pain. I reported it but it never got fixed. Also the handle to the bathroom was broke. Real easy to lock yourself in. I stuffed the lock with a napkin so it wouldn't lock but I can imagine someone being stuck in there for awhile. NOT FUNNY, unless your on the outside listening to your SO shout for help.. ha ha . Got to meet many new faces both from the DennyP web site, going to hedo 2005 Yahoo group, and from Tom's Tours who organize the beauty pageant. We enjoyed ourselves and look forward to meeting these new friends on future trips. Kevin and Mary from NY
