Jason & Meryl - October, 2005

10/08/2005 to 10/16/2005

My husband and I were married at Hedonism II three years ago and have returned every year since for our anniversary.  We have noticed some changes over the past few years and not for the better.

Air Jamaica

The Departure - No problems in Atlanta a smooth flight.  We arrived in Montego Bay and went through immigration (about 10 to 15 minutes on line) but then waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for our luggage due to a work slow down of the Air Jamaica employees.  Went over to customs (10 minutes) and out to the Superclubs reception area- 5 minutes and out the door and on a shuttle bus.

The return   Problem.  Air Jamaica was extremely unorganized. Huge line to check in (1 hour and 35 minutes) and then went through security (20 minutes).  Smooth flight and no problems in Atlanta.

Check in at the Resort

No problem was fast and uneventful.  We booked prude ocean view and we were bumped up to nude ocean view.

Occupancy

The resort looked pretty busy.  The nude pool was always half full and the hot tub was completely full at times.  There was a good crowd.  For example - all of the lounge chairs were taken by guests on the beach and at the pool.

The people other guests

Best part of our trip.  We had a great time.  The guests were never predictable and always entertaining.  We made new friends and saw some familiar faces.  We love Hedo people!

Entertainment

The staff works very hard.  We did not see much this year of outside entertainment or shows.  No Circus show with the amazing bendable guy this year.  Also the quality of the bands dropped that is when there was a band.

Food

Obvious spending cuts in this area.  The dinner and lunch buffet was filled with the cheapest items they could find.  For example one day there would be corn in the hot section and also a tray of corn in the cold section and the next day peas just really came across as no effort or money put in to the food. The serving trays were constantly running out.  There was less selection and less food overall this year.  They came across as being unprepared for the guests.  Never had this before.  Very disappointing.

Breakfast was very good and the lobster on Friday night was very good.

Pastafari and the Japanese restaurants were both very good.  We didnt get to the Scotch Bonnet restaurant.

Midnight buffet was a joke.  They put out what is left over from dinner (hardly anything) and hamburgers.

Service

Overall the service hasnt changed.  They work very hard and deserve respect.

Check out

Uneventful and for the first time ever we were looking forward to going home.

Unusual events

A crocodile swam up to the nude beach and was roped up by the water sports staff.  The staff said this had never happened before.  It seems to be true since the locals were rushing to get photos of the crocodile.  We looked it up on the internet and the crocodile that most resembles what we saw is called a Cuban Crocodile.

We saw a large rat walking along the wall at the nude pool area one night.

More employee tipping this year.

More guest using there cell phones on the beach and at the pool.

Rude employee at the front desk when we called to request no sunshine guarantee vouchers for Saturday October 15th.  No sun all day due to a tropical depression now named Wilma.  The front desk was not nice and said that guest relations had determined the sun had come out for 1 hour.  This was a lie.

Strange clash of guests.  The Lifestyles week ended on Saturday October 15th but many leave on Monday.  There was a large good of very conservative guests check in on that Saturday.  The dining hall had half people wearing golf shirts, jeans, capri pants and the other slut wear.  Slut wear folks were getting lots of rude stares.  Very uncomfortable and very poor judgement on the management or whoever is in charge of coordinating group bookings.  It just did not feel like Hedo!

Summary

We will always have a special place in our hearts for Hedonism II and we really want the resort to succeed.  I hate to have to say this but as of now we will not be returning.  It seems like management just does not care about the guests or does not understand why people choose to return year after year to Hedonism II.

I really hope things improve and I look forward to reading the November/December and January reports.
