We left out on Saturday morning, the 12th of March for a 6 night stay at Hedo II. We flew USAir and other than a frantic run through Charlotte airport to catch our connecting flight, the plans went smoothly. I thought it was a little hard to find the Superclubs desk in the airport, but eventually we located it. Immigration lines were all open and all full, but it still took less than 30 minutes. We had no carry-on luggage and I think that helped a ton in getting us through the airports quickly.
The bus ride there is not so bad. Still, try to sit in the back of the bus because there are people on bicycles all over the place and you will think that you are going to run over them all. Not to mention the goats and cows.
Men, if you have to beg your wife to go to Hedo (and she only finally agrees just to get you to stop whining) you will be better off staying at home. I wanted to go, and it still takes a lot of courage to strip naked and walk down the beach. I think the best tactic is to get on the beach beside the waterslide. Take a right and you will probably see people playing nude volleyball. Sit down on a beach chair, STRIP NAKED, and put suntan lotion on. Let this be your get ready zone. When you get up the guts walk further on down the beach and directly to Delroys bar. This is right at the nude pool and beach.
If you prepared before you left, by the time you get this far you will already have met 10 people you know. I started a yahoo group and invited all the people on DennyPs visitor schedule to join. We all posted pictures and talked for about 2 months. By the time you get there you have at least 20 ready made friends. This is the only way to go. I could not imagine getting there and not knowing anyone.
So, Day 1:
30 minutes into the vacation and we are getting body shots from several of our new friends! What a way to welcome someone to Hedo!
Even if you do not meet people before you go, it is the easiest thing in the world to start a conversation at Hedo. So where are you from What made you decide to come to Hedo? And all of the people there are super friendly and you will have a couple new friends in no time. When you leave the pool or hot tub tell others in the general vicinity that you are making a bar run and ask if anyone needs a refill.
The food in the dining room at night left a little to be desired at times, but I loved the breakfast and lunch in there. Make reservations at all of the restaurants and try them at least once while you are there. Pastafaris is the best. Slutwear can be worn at any of these places and you will see the majority of women wearing it.
We booked a run-of-the-house room and arrived on a Saturday. I dont know if we lucked out and arrived on a day with a high check-out rate or what, but were upgraded to Garden View Nude. And the funny part was we never dreamed that we would get a nude room so after we get cleaned up and head out of our room there are these two naked people just strolling along. We were so shocked! Upgrades do still happen, but from my point of view paying the extra for these rooms is worth it if you think you will use the nude pool area a lot. I also have heard that it is cheaper to book run-of-the-house and upgrade once you get there.
The rooms are adequate and about what I expected. The mirror on the ceiling is great! The showers have 5 showerheads and are really nice. We had hot water all week. The bathroom is a little small, though.
We went on the snorkeling trip and also took out some kayaks. Very fun, and I suggest it if you can muster up the energy to get out of your lounge chair. We saw several sting rays during both trips. There is a variety of fish and the coral is very interesting. Much better than I have seen in Mexico or Grand Cayman.
There were a few single guys around and from what I could see they were all very nice and respectful. I thought there were a lot more problems from men that were married. For some reason sometimes they think that can just wander over and feel you up when they dont even know you. All the situations I saw were taken care of easily without anyone having to get rude. There were also a few locals in the disco late at night and one of them was particularly annoying.
The staff is great. Please be nice and talk to them when they speak to you! Especially Augustus on the beach. He is hilarious!
I had to have a couple drinks when we first got there to loosen up until I got comfortable with everything. But be very careful about drinking too much on your first day. Most everyone ends up in bed early since they are tired of traveling, but there is no need for puking up your eggs at breakfast the next morning. (Not that I would know)
PDAs are everywhere. The security does not stop them at all. I personally found the PDAs to be heaviest between 6 PM and 7:30 PM in the hot tub. But you will see blow jobs on the beach at anytime of day. As a matter of fact you may see ANYTHING ANYWHERE at ANYTIME. So keep your eyes open! J That couple beside you at Delroys? They may be screwing while leaned up on the bar carrying on an interesting conversation with you.
There was one thing that really upset me while we were there. A staff member came to the nude pool and beach and rounded everyone up for a nude waterslide run. . .this was probably 3 in the afternoon. So about 50 or 60 people go marching over to the prude side. While we were waiting in line to go down the slide there were 3 or 4 prudes standing there taking pictures of everyone. I understand we were on the prude side and photography is allowed, but this was an event lead by staff members. They should make sure that the guests privacy is protected.
RANDOM TIPS:
*Be careful of what you say (and DO) while in your rooms because when it carries through the bathroom vent EVERYONE outside will hear it. On a side note, walk slowly while heading to the dining room for dinner, you might hear something interesting. J
*Dont waste time in getting naked! It is totally natural and after a while you will feel odd with clothes on.
*Always do a toilet paper check after going to the little girls room . . .even if you are so drunk you cant see straight. J
*This tip only applies if you have good friends around you and the vibes are good, and it mostly applies for women. If you want to do something, go for it! This is not the time or place to be shy. If you feel like grabbing someones ass, DO IT! Dont come to the end of your vacation and think I couldve had so much more fun if I had just went for it And remember, if something fails miserably you never have to see these people again. J
*Men, dont worry about getting a hard-on while walking around at Hedo. I saw no one with this problem the entire week, unless a female had gone out of her way to encourage it. And if you do get one, chances are someone will take care of it for you. J
*Do the waterslide naked, especially late at night after the disco. There is no rush quite like going down the waterslide in the dark when you are drunk off your ass. Not to mention at this time of day there will be no photographers.
