Dana & Nancy - July, 2005

Dana & Nancy July1st through 12th
This was our second trip to Hedo in July.  last years virgin trip we only stayed 5 days.  Not long enough.  This year 12 days.  We figure about 2 to 3 days too long.  So Next year we will plan on 8 to 10 days.

Traveled via American Airlines.  We were scheduled to leave Denver at 7:12am.  Prior to our trip, weeks infact. We decided to decorate a rock at home and take it with us to lay under one of the bushes at Hedo.  I wanted to have one that would stand the test of time, so I engraved it and then painted it with acrylic paint, then put a clear coat on it.  I was concerned that there would be some kind of hassle taking a rock in my luggage at security.  We opted for carry on only this year.  While going through the screening process, they wanted to open my bag, funny they saw a large mass in the x-ray and could not tell what it was.  So they checked it out and the woman doing the search , said ahhh that's cute, and we were on our way.  Flight was the smoothest I have ever been on, landed Miami about 1:55pm local time.  Scheduled to depart for Mobay at 2:39pm.  Flight was delayed for almost an hour, while we waited for a flight crew to arrive from another flight.  Finally we took off and the Captain said he was going to push the envelope and get us there ASAP.  Our original arrival time was supposed to be 2:47pm Jamaica time.  We arrived at 3:10pm just 20mins behind schedule.

Another 25 to 30 mins and we were at Super clubs desk for precheckin.   We opted for Tim Air to get us there again this year.  Last year we taken directly to the plane, but this year we had about a 10 minute wait.  30 minutes later we were at Hedo front desk.  Last year we arrived about 11 am and had to wait a couple of hours for our room.  This year we had our room in 5 mins.  Slapped on some sunblock threw on a towel and off we went to Nude side.  Unfortunately we had runof house and they put us way down at the Sandals end of the resort in room 1245.
No matter we enjoy the walk.  We strolled quickly down to the beach with gleeful exuberance. and headed straight for Delroy's.  From a distance we started to make out familiar faces from last year.  It was a joyful reunion with people who recognized us.  We got our drinks and began to mingle.  We were just in time for Jerk chicken and fries.   We had a good time with all our friends old and new.  Around 5:30 we went back to the room, took a shower and got ready for dinner.  Friday night was Gala night and the food was great.   After dinner we went to take a little nap.  We got up around 10 and got ready to got to the disco.  Disco was pretty well packed and we got pretty well smashed then headed to the hot tub For a while.  Went back to bed around 2am.   Next day we got up around 8 and had break fast then we hit the gym.  We had planned on keeping up our workout schedule as much as the sand gravity would allow.  Out of 12 days we hit the gym the 2nd and 4th day.  After a decent workout in the gym we took out one of the hobi cat sailboats.  Last year we did this every day and in keeping with tradition did most days this year.  I wanted to check out the small island Booby Cay so I sailed close to it.  I did not realized the  water was so shallow so far from the island ,and within about 100 yard we hit bottom and had to get out and push the hobi cat off the sand.  It was embarrassing as the guy who runs the watersports came out in the boat and told us to stay away from the island.  After this we headed down to nude pool, and started a brand new day of debauchery.  Met more new people and I had my first and second pda encounter of the trip, and so did Nancy.  Much partying and playing ensued. On the Sunday the 3rd several of us took an off resort trip to Delroy's Son's Bar.  Don't ask me where it is I could not find it even if I wanted to we just hopped in a van and 20 minutes later were there.  It was a great experience meeting Delroy's family, and enjoying ice cold bottles of Red Stripe from the bar.  Delroy's son set up a huge sound system and cranked out tunes and we danced and sang along and then Delroy's wife made jerk chicken for us.  We danced and partied with some the locals who were curious at the spectacle.  On the 4th We joined 4th of July Parade, and marched up and down the beach, it was alot of fun walking along the beach behind a tracker pulling a trailer with Ray Ray and Winston both dressed up to the T complete with impossible high heals  that they actually walked in the sand with.  All of us blowing our little horns and yelling.  We started at the nude pools and made our progression all the way down to the fence at Sandals where we tried to recruit prudes to join us.  Then back down to the nude side.  I would say we most likely looked like a parade of fools, but great fun was had by all.  On about the 6th too much partying had worn us down alot and we were starting to feel like the crud was creeping up on us.  This coincided with hurricane Dennis heading our way.  During the last few hours the storm was supposed to hit, it veered off to the north and all we got were some moderate winds and rain for about two days.  Most of evening of the 6th and most of 7th we only ventured from our rooms long enough to get a bite to each and did alot of napping as the weather was rainy and over cast all day and we needed the rest.  By Friday and Sat we were feeling better.  We took the hobi cat out on Sat and the winds were still quite strong and the water very choppy.  It made for a thrilling , yet somewhat scary ride.  Another couple actually flipped there's.  Most of the people we had developed bonds with over the last week had already left or were going to leave the next day.  So by Saturday there were about three people aside from us who were in our original crew.  This was a sad feeling, as we felt like we lost our family.  By Sunday we were feeling really tired and missing our friends, and considered leaving a day early as we just felt exhausted and wanted to go home.  We told ourselves we would not drink that day so our bodies could recover some, but at the day wears on you see everyone having a great time and drinking and so you drink again and you feel better for a time.
Tuesday morning came and we had mixed feelings as the day had finally come for us to leave, and we were ready but at the same time did not want to leave.  Had our bags outside by 11 hung out in the pool until about 10 mins till noon then threw on some clothes and ran for the Bus.
We heard that people who had left on Sat and Sun were delayed by as much as 12 hours due to back ups in the flight from hurricane Dennis. By the time we got there it had all returned to normal.  Our flight left on time, although our flight out of Miami was delayed about an hour and a half.  We finally arrived at our front door around 2am with work the next day.  It took almost an entire week to recuperate fully and are now starting to feel the effects of Dif.   Bugs were supposed to be bad but never got bit, Nancy kept applying bug repellant and still got bit several times.  Our shower in our room from day one was clogged and we had to stop the shower mid way to let water drain before we could continue.  On day two I contacted the front desk and 20 mins later a maint person came and unclogged it.  We always had plenty of hot water.  We had an irritating problem with the ac unit, when the door was opened too long, like when the maid cleaned the room, the humidity levels rose too much and condensation from the ac units coils would cause a lake in our room.  The ac unit would also mysteriously click over from cold to heat by itself.
All things considered it was a fantastic trip, we will only make our stay for less days next time.  On our third day we placed our rock under one of the bushes close to the nude pool.  As you are walking down the garden path right before you walk into the hot tub area where the path narrows through the bushes look down to your left and you will See our rock  It says Dana & Nancy with a big red heart, and in the middle of the heart it says Hedo, around the heart it says July 2005.  Drop us a line if you see it.
