4/1-4/6 Hedo II

Finally the time has come for me to write my trip report.  I thought long and hard about this, and after spending time at H2 finally, I wanted to write one that could really help someone that has not been to a clothing optional or heretofore referred to always as "nekkie" resort.  I can honestly say that there were some things that I was totally prepared for and other things that were mind-blowing.

We decided on going to Hedo after our really good friend thought that I would love it there.  After reading all that I could on dennyp, I was sold and ready to go.  The funny thing is my husband would suggest hedo before and I would shoot it down each time, thinking that I was more a Sandals type person.

We signed up our trip date and then started contacting people right away.  We immediately hooked up with some really great people and started emailing back and forth, or in our case, posting on bulletin boards set up for people going at the same time.  We also had chats on Tuesday nights--towards the end, we were chatting virtually every night.  It was nice because we got to really know the people that we would be partying with prior to getting there and we all got each other pumped up.  I can honestly say that I formed some genuine friendships before setting foot on the property.

Now to what you really want---I will not bore you with my flight details, except to say, take Air Jamaica if you can as they serve up free red stripe and champagne and it makes the flight that much better.  After reading tons of trip reports, we had decided that we would take the Timair flight rather than the bus.  It was quite the experience having our luggage walked three feet to be handed off to someone else that needed to be tipped, but I had read about that prior, so it was amusing rather than annoying.  The plane was seriously old looking, but the pilot was quite skillful and I didn't feel the need to "fly" it for him!  The greatest thing about the airport was walking to baggage claim and immigration and hearing "Formiqua Dinnette" called out.  It was one of our friends that we made on the "chats".  I didn't feel a bit of apprehension being in a strange country rather at home with that.

After a lovely flight (15 minutes of incredible coastline and water views) we took a little cab ride to the resort and were greeted by more of our new friends!  They were waiting in the lobby with drinks for us and believe me it set the mood for the entire trip!  Faces that were distorted on webcams were now much clearer and it was so nice to be able to hug these people.  I really appreciated the greet guys.

We made our way to the room and then took off our clothes and walked the 20 feet to the nude pool area.  Again, wave after wave of our new friends greeted us and the party started.  I was very overwhelmed by the "activity" that was going on.  There was a very high level of sexual energy that I had not anticipated.  Also there was pda's going on all around us and I don't think I was prepared for that.  I honestly thought it was isolated and at night---it's not--it is right there out there in the open.  There are different levels of action and some of it is quite nice.  On the getting nekkie, no problem, mon.  No one cares about one more person jumping into the pool naked.  At first, I was extremely self conscious and extra aware, but after an hour or so, I realized that no one cared.  We proceeded to get hammered and stayed that way the entire time.

I won't go through each day--I will just say that our daily routine started with waking up, eating breakfast, going to the nude pool, partying, taking a "nap", eating dinner, more partying, hot tub, sleep and then start all over again.  Sure, there was variation, the nude cruise, a renewal of vows--really pretty on the point--but the days fell into that pattern.  The faces would change, but we pretty much stuck to that routine.  We also took advantage of the local product to our great satisfaction.  Make sure that you negotiate because they will take much less than they originally ask.  I thought my husband was being insulting to them, but each time they would give him what we wanted for much less than half what they asked for.

The property itself is pretty rundown when you get away from the prude side pool and gym area.  It's a shame that area sits virtually untouched with everyone else jammed into the very small nude pool area.  The landscaping really needs to be taken care of as it could be incredible, but it seems that is not a priority with management.  There are a lot of areas that could be potential problems for the resort--areas for drainage when it rains that are pitting pretty badly.  It was hard to navigate after drinking my body weight each day!  The rooms are pretty dated and odd colors--but they are kept clean and I never saw one bug in my room while there.  The air conditioning seemed not to work very well but I was able to sleep because of the extreme consumption of alcohol.

The food was good in my opinion.  I was prepared for the worst, but was very surprised with the quality.  In fact, I had the best dinner in the dining room and not at one of the restaraunts.  The stunning fact (besides that) was that it was fish and I am ultra picky about fish to the point that my husband dreads it when I order it.  But this was so good and seasoned just right that I wish I could have eaten that each and every night.

The planned activities during the day were fun.  Some of the activity coordinaters are great and really interact with the guests to make fun stuff happen.  The best was nude volleyball on the prude side followed by an invasion of the waterslide.  I can't remember the girl's name, but she really made things fun, especially by forgetting to keep the score of the game so that we could lengthen our destruction of the other team.  The hedo bucks came in handy for presents to bring home.  I am so in awe of their energy after hearing about their schedules.  I don't know that I could have a smile on my face for 18 hours of dancing and talking----hey wait a minute, maybe I could go work there...

The party nights (pj and toga night) were great with large participation by the guests.  Both nights featured a ton of creativity and wonderfully sexy costumes.  It's really easy to let go and have a wild time with everyone looking so hot.  I really enjoyed those nights as well as the bonfire night with the fun activities on the beach.  Hedo really knows how to keep the crowd going and active.

My biggest complaint about the resort is the service by most of the staff is given with out a smile.  Some would actually get irritated with simple requests.  I have been to a few resorts, and was prepared for the laid back nature in Jamaica, but I will never be prepared for someone to act like I am interrupting them when I ask for a water glass.  There was only one person in the dining room that had anything approaching a smile and he had a supervisor name tag on.  Even in the Japanese restaraunt we were treated as if we were intruding when making simple requests.  I am not speaking of changing tables or menu items, I am just referring to civil conversation.  I also wish that the management at superclubs would consider making the prude side a clothing optional or even topless area.  It is gorgeous and extremely underused.  With the nude side being so small, it would be nice to be able to spread out a bit.

Complaints out of the way I have to say that aside from being blown away by the level of activity of a sexual nature, I had a great time.  I was certain that I would not go back there the day after arriving in the US, but by the third day I was planning a trip back in the fall.  My husband and I spoke about how we could not imagine being at a more laid back and less active place.  I have a laid back life, I don't need a laid back vacation.  As far as the price goes I don't think that a vacation exists for less money with all that you get at Hedo 2.  Sure the rooms are a little dated and the property needs to address some issues, but when you are sitting in a pool with a bunch of your naked friends, eating grilled cheese (with tomatoes!!!) and fries, you can't help but feel like you have found paradise.  I would definitely recommend this to anyone with an open mind that likes to have non-stop fun.

One note--Vinnies and Wallies.  I did meet some men that came without female partners and for the most part, they were extremely respectful and stayed within bounds.  I may look at them a little differently than some others in that I can see how uncomfortable it must be to come to a place like that without a woman.  There a lot of hook-ups with "day companions" that we witnessed, so it's not like there isn't opportunity for them to get laid.  I thought that they were well behaved and respectful and also mindful of the fact that they were in a predominantly couples resort.  For the most part, they seemed to stay on the fringes of activity and interact when appropriate.

For all the people that we met while there, thanks for making our vacation memorable and fun.  We had a blast and hope to see you again.  For those that we made friends with, let's go again!
