here is pete and lynseys rookie trip report for sept 7th-21st 2002.... so how do we condense 2 weeks of fun into a few paragraphs???? well here goes...... saturday 7th sept- left home in birmingham, england early saturday morning.caught the bus to london heathrow then airjamaica to montego bay.we took the bus to hedo which was fine.just over an hour which was FAR shorter than our bus to heathrow.met a couple(chris and dave) on the bus who live about 20 minutes away from us in england.pulled into hedo after 19 hours travel and checked in with no problems.just in time to grab a midnight snack before catching up on some much needed sleeeeeeeepppp.....
sunday 8th sept got up early for breakfast then headed to the nude area.had never gone 'nekkid' before so we dithered around for about 30 seconds ("shall we?" "yeah,ok" "no...errr..ok" "sure...erm...yeah").then off came the clothes and we never looked back...(thanks to an email from nick and robin that said "the second hardest thing at hedo is taking your clothes off,the hardest thing.......etc....") we spotted a few people from don and annas list(you guys were great.shame we didn't get to spend more time...) and i said hi to nick (of '...and robin' fame).they both seemed really friendly but were one of several couples who we didn't completely click with.i guess everyone finds their 'group' and sometimes there is so much going on that you just miss people.anyway, i'm sure we'll see you guys next year.... next we met chris and dave from the bus journey.we seemed to click instantly with these guys.maybe because we live so close to each other and have things in common(they go to some of the same clubs as us and we've been out with them since getting back to england.funny that we've never bumped into them and the first time we meet them is thousands of miles from home).they got married the day before coming to hedo so this was their honeymoon. tried the famous 'roberts grill' which had me hooked on b.l.t. for two weeks and had drinks from scumba.lynsey said his pina colada was orgasmic..... the room was basic but fine.the food was great for me as i had vowed to eat healthy for 2 weeks(i'm a junk food addict) so apart from the blt's i ate lots of fruit and salad(oh,but the bacon was great,as was the desert.....oh,and the coffee....and,oh well, there goes my healthy eating regime...) nighttime went to piano bar and then to the hot tub.had a great time in there but by now we were figuring out that there weren't that many people at hedo as we thought there would be(should have realized on arrival when our room was automatically upgraded at no extra charge...)
monday 9th sept from here on things get a little blurry and the journal started going to pot(literally!) so i'll try my best to remember.... the 14th would see our wedding day.by now our friendship with chris and dave had developed to the point of them helping with the wedding arrangements and also being our witnesses. went to see wet tshirt contest.lynsey said that she may do it next week if she's drunk enough....and she did.....but more about that later... spoke to gaby and josh,a great couple.gaby was born in england but left for the states 20 years ago(don't blame her.during our trip we noticed that you americans are far more friendly that the brits.since getting back we've had to get used to people being ignorant again ;-) we had read about 'pda' in 'the naked truth...' book and boy,chris santilli wasn't wrong....
tueday 10th sept chris and dave introduced us to ben and kari.ben was hilarious with his animal shaped water pistols.today we met allen and nancy.they were really nice but only there for a few days.we've spoken by email since returning and look forward to seeing you guys next year.... met tripp and tonya from boston.they got married on thursday 12th and we helped each other out by filming each others weddings.got on really well with these guys.another couple who we can't wait to see again next year.
friday 13th sept well friday the 13th and we were in the middle of a fairly intense thunderstorm,hoping that our wedding day on saturday wouldn't be washed out.... ate japanese tonight.verdict---kind of average.....
saturday 14th sept our wedding day! started the day by playing othello(!) with buffy and kereisha the ent coordinators.their nickname for lynsey is 'drew' (they thought she looked like drew barrymore??huh??she looks nothng like her!) lyns went to have her hair done and i went to have an indian head massage.i would recommend this to anyone.very relaxing. the wedding was fantastic,made that much better with the help of chris,dave,tripp and tonya.thanks guys!also lorna the wedding coordinator did a great job and helped things run smoothly.oh, and thanks to the rain for not bothering us during the ceremony!
sunday 15th sept went snorkelling with chris and dave.had loads of fun. on the night lyns and i were getting it on in the hot tub when a guy came up and started sucking her nipple,rubbing her shoulders and stroking her back.now, believe me, we have no problem with guys joining us but this person was just plain rude!he was there with his wife but seemed to think he had the right to go on with anyone of his choosing.lyns wasn't interested so he didn't stick around for long... we met a guy called mark.he was there on his own and was blind.he was concerned that no one was bothering with him and had been on his own all day.we got chatting and lyns explained that as a single guy,unless you make the effort then you will end up on your own.she told him a simple 'hi' could work wonders.it did and he was surrounded by people for the rest of his trip.his courage was inspiring and seeing him on the trapeze was unbelievable.he was also a pretty mean snooker player... after we had dropped mark off at the disco we headed back to the nude area.there were 2 fully clothed jamaican guys hanging around.security said nothing to them,even when one of them tried it on with lynsey(twice in fact!once when she went to the bathroom and once while we were wrapped up in each other on a sunbed).i don't want to go on a rant about the security but this was one of many ridiculous incidents of 'turning a blind eye' that we witnessed.
monday 16th sept lyns (unwillingly!) eneterd the wet tshirt contest, but was left wishing that she hadn't.during the judging lyns and i were pulled up on stage and a big deal was made about the fact that we were newlyweds.lyns had to pick 5 guys from the judges to lick caramel sauce from her body while i watched.this was no problem and i thought it waould be loads of fun until i saw lyns kicking her legs in panic.when she stood up it turned out that one of the guys had been biting her.not just playful biting but enough to leave 2 bruises on her legs,one of which was so bad that it is only just clearing up now(3 weeks later!) not impressed!
tuesday 17th sept met bob and susan from (i think?)new york.susan was a very sexy woman who makes both of us grin every time she comes up in discussion.i think we would have got on great with these guys but they were only there for a couple of days and it was right as the storm was about to hit. next we met todd and kathy from chicago.you guys rocked!catherine was beatiful and it was great to meet someone who had actually heard of the black crowes haha battle of the sexes was really funny.the guy who won the fake orgasm contest was a star. the resident band had a great groove.as a musician myself i always appreciate being entertained by other great players while on holiday.marsha singing 'oops,oh my..' by tweet on talent night was a highlight for me.and also roxanne developed a thing for spanking our asses....
wed 18th sept really bad weather!!!!!!!! ventured out to the hot tub on the night but didn't quite make it.stood looking at the pool for about 30 seconds then ran back to the room,freezing our asses off.............
thurs 19th sept .............more rain,more thunder,more lightning.............
friday 20th sept th weather was starting to improve so we spent most of the day in the hot tub.chatted to kereisha the ent coordinator.we found out that she was being fired after only 3 weeks.they said that she was 'lacking something ' for the job.i don't think that was entirely the reason and we thought she was a lovely girl.definitely our favourite e.c. i don't want to say much more on that subject (;-( gosh,hedo politics........ we heard they were trying to move her to grand lido.hope everything goes well for her......
saturday 21st sept well, time to go home.said goodbye to new friends,wished kereisha all the best and headed to reception to check out. unfortunately we weren't able to get the offer for the free holiday next year as we booked outside of the united states.we have to make do with 2 'no sun' days and it was DIFFICULT getting our hands on the voucher.it seemed that the ever so helpful staff were all of a sudden avoiding us.after much persistence we finally got the voucher about 5 minutes before leaving.......
highlights? (in no particular order) 1.getting naked for the first time. 2.chris, dave, tripp, tonya, kathy, todd, bob, susan, allen, nancy, mark and all the other amazing people who helped to make this our best holiday ever 3.getting married on the beach.it's been our dream for years. 4.don and anas list.thanks guys,it was a massive help. 5.kereishas personality,buffys outfit on toga night,marsha singing on talent night,roxannes ass spanking,rayray getting pushed in the pool several times in the middle of the storm.the whole ec groups antics at the side of the hot tub during the storm 6.delroys banana milkshake(i'm teetotal now!) 7.reefer madness!!! 8.indian head massage 9.the band 10.the rudeness(in a good way!) 11.mark on the trapeze
lowlights? (again in no particular order) 1.lyns getting bitten in wet tshirt contest 2.the fact that we have to pay next year knowing that everyone else is there for free ;-( 3.rain/thunder/lightning stopped play 4.not being able to spend enough time with some of the great people we met 5.kereisha getting sacked 6.the rudeness(in a bad way!) 7.being avoided by staff while trying to get our voucher for 2 free days 8.having to come back to england(!)
so that was our trip.all in all we had an unbelievable time.thanks to all the people we met for making our holiday/wedding so special.we'll catch you all in sept 2003 for our 1st wedding anniversary.
