Monica & Alicia - March, 2002

Monica & Alicia's Trip Report
March 10-17 2002

Alicia and I just returned from our trip to Hedo II- 3/10-3/17. This was my third trip to paradise and Alicia's virgin trip. I'm pretty sure that she will share my Hedo addiction from this point forward. So many things happened on this trip that it is impossible to go into detail, so we'll just give the brief overview and leave it at that.

First let it be said that Alicia and I are African American females in our late 20's. We left the boyfriends at home (they wouldn't understand), to come to Hedo for a well deserved vacation. Additionally, I was the guest aerobics instructor for the week.

Getting There
The flights from RDU and Washington National- respectively were uneventful.  Met up in Charlotte on a connecting flight. Customs/immigration was a breeze, and baggage claim was ok, although a little slow. We decided to take the flight to Negril, and were accommodated even though we didn't have reservations. The only annoyance was that in MBJ airport we were quoted one price, and charged another price ($6 more) when we arrived at the airstrip.  This was the 1st time we took the flight and it was wonderful- not too bumpy, the view was perfect, and getting to Hedo in less than 20 min was the best! The $5 cab ride to Hedo from the airstrip is a rip off- its a 30 second ride at most! Now I know better, and will try to bargain that down next time (sorry, I'm cheap!) Check in at the hotel was the quickest ever- we got our keys right away. We took the bus on our departure trip back to the airport, and the ride was less bumpy (although still an adventure). It took about 1 1/2 hrs. Next time we'll fly back too, so we can have more
time at hedo. (MBJ airport on the way back was very crowded, and they search all of your bags. Make sure you arrive with plenty of time to spare)

Trip Logistics
The renovations to Hedo are simply wonderful. I never thought Hedo was particularly run down before, but it looks fabulous now. It didn't bother me that the improvements were all on the prude side- we have legs to walk from one side to the other. The waterslide is fun and fast- but you have to lay down to go fast, and according to Alicia, naked is faster! The room was fine- the only shower problem we had was that the water wasn't draining at the bottom too well, and hot water kept running out of the faucet, so our feet were scalded a number of days. The food was pretty good overall, although it got a bit repetitious. Pastafari food was not good- we ate there one night, and it was the worst that I had tasted so far. I spoke w/ the manager there one time and he said that a lot of changes contributed to the poor food. The Japanese restaurant was ok, but nothing to rave about if you've eaten at one of those types of restaurants before. Our chef was pretty stingy with the meat- and had forgotten to cook rice for us! He had the nerve to be offended when we said we wanted rice at the end of the meal. Lobster on Tuesday- and lots of it, and beach towels were
available for everyone. Of course, the best meals were breakfast (omlettes, yum!) and a cheeseburger and fries from the beach grill.

Activities
Before we had been there an hour, we were naked at the hot tub. This was around 5 pm. It was indeed an eye opening experience - lots of open sex going on. However, we found out later that evening that the resort was only at about 20% capacity. We made our own fun, however. I won the wet t-shirt contest by using dance skills (had to take one for the small-breasted women) and gave my cruise certificate to Alicia. Apparently she had a good time, although she got caught in the reef while snorkeling. She also had a great massage on the boat, which entertained everyone.  We did the slutwear a couple of times, and although we at first strutted w/ confidence, by the end of the night, were feeling quite uncomfortable and clutching our skirts. I won the reggae dance contest, but mostly because my slutwear skirt popped up like a Venetian blind and flashed the audience (totally by accident, I swear). Won for the females for best fake orgasm, but was beaten by a guy from Detroit who incorporated anal intrusion into his routine. (Thanks Phil and Ivan for being in my skit, though!) Also won for funkiest PJ's- in my little red riding hood outfit (again, very risqu).  By Tuesday, occupancy started going up, and more Spring Breakers arrived. They mostly kept to themselves, and never ventured on the nude side (well, never came there nude, anyway). Only slightly obnoxious. On Thursday, Rose, one of the E.C.'s talked us into being in the talent show and dancing w/ her. We learned the choreography in less than 2 hard hours. Tam and Kana painted our chests w/ liquid latex, so we performed semi-nude (nothing but shorts and our latex "shirts". It was  a great show. Definitely one of the highlights of the trip. Although I performed with a serious look on my face (trying to remember all of those steps), Alicia's exhibitionist nature came out, and she was smiling and making eyes at people in the crowd. Thanks to Tam and Kana for letting us be their canvases. WE LOVED IT!! I did climb the rock wall- and went all-the-way! I have scrapes on my legs to prove it. I also got sick for the first time at Hedo. It started on Wed, after I went down the waterslide. I got congested and stuffy. After a Benadryl, that passed, but then on Thursday I lost my voice for the rest of the trip. I had a million people offering cold remedies, which worked (sort of). Thanks Ringmon for the Halls, and the honey "cough syrup" and to Patrick the E.C. (new Patrick) for the blackberry brandy.

We went off site once in the day to shop, which was fine, (Alicia has the best bargaining skills), and once at night to the Jungle- which was packed w/ far too many Spring Breakers. The disco was cold, and played way too much techno. Apparently since Jamaicans hear reggae all the time, they don't play it too much, but we wanted to hear
more reggae! A few nights, the disco was ok, but generally not too fun. Speaking of music, what is up with the radio stations in Jamaica? We barely heard any reggae until Friday night. It was generally US pop music and talk radio! Annoying! Now I see why people bring their own CDs.

Aerobics Classes/Fitbodies

Throughout the week, no one showed up to any aerobics classes, which I felt was a waste, because the studio was so nice. I didn't mind too much, but started to feel like I was getting over by getting such a reduced rate, yet not teaching any classes. We did work out a few days in the new gym. One of the nicest things, however, was on Friday, when all our friends from the nude beach crashed the aerobics studio and took my class - naked! Leroy (who runs the gym) was not pleased, but didn't stop it. He said that we made Hedo history. I was really touched by the showing of friendship and support for me. If anyone wants info on the Fitbodies experience, let me know. I won't travel any other way to Jamaica!

"Hateration"

The E.C.'s were ok. They were more dispirited than before, overall. Maybe they were drained from the Jerry Springer week, or just because there were so few people there, but the energy just wasn't present. Also, as the week went on and Alicia and I got more attention, they became decidedly more catty. They talked to us less, there was more eye rolling, whispering and looking at us, then laughing. Only a few were especially friendly, and only in spurts. No matter, with the turnover there, they'll likely be gone by the next time I go back.

"No Thanks"

Traveling as singles is different than as a couple. We found that we were not explicitly asked if it was ok to touch us (only 1 person actually asked). It was just assumed that it was ok, which left us no option to say 'no thanks'. We thought about writing up flash cards w/ "no thanks" on it. No one overtly did anything, but hands on the butt, legs, breasts, etc., were quite common, and although it didn't make us mad, it was uncomfortable at times. Sometimes we just removed ourselves from the situation, or tried to let our body language speak for us. We didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings or offend anyone, though, because everyone was so nice, and we genuinely liked them. We just wish we had been given the option to decline some of the touches.

Etc.

I've left out many things to protect the innocent, and not-so-innocent, but just wanted to say a few last things. David - next time. Kana and Tam, you are our saviors, and so nice! Definitely look forward to seeing you next time. Hopefully, we can coordinate schedules. Donna and John - what can we say???  You all are the BEST and we had so many good times and laughs with you that our throats and stomachs hurt for giggling so hard!!  We will see each other again soon, and at Hedo as well.  Too many people to give "shout outs" to, but you know who you are, especially, everyone in our "group" that we corresponded with before getting to Hedo -- Scott and Carole, Ivan and Michelle, Phil and Judy, Will and Kickshea, etc.) We were both sad to leave, and I know I had to blink back tears a few times.  Definitely looking forward to going again- ASAP! Many thanks to Denny P. for his website and for bringing so many people together. I still check it at least 3 times a day!
