Iggy - December, 2002

                                  Dec 8-22

This was my 11th trip to Hedo and was one of the most interesting. I took the bus from Mo Bay to Hedo for the 1st time in about 8 years. There were only 3 of us on the bus and the other 2 were going to Grand Lido, so no one to  reminice with.
I arrived at the hotel and room 2176 was ready and so was I. I said hi to Faye and gave her the 200 ballons she asked me to bring for their Christmas party. I threw my bag in the room and headed for the pool to look for the familiar December gang.
It did'nt take long. I spotted Jean and Randy in the mist pool and joined them for a red stripe. Soon after, Quint splased me from behind and we headed for the hottub. The whole gang was there. Anthony & Kathy, Quint & Chris, Jodi & Jim, Steve & Lana, Ursula & Keith and all the familar faces. I was home and my 2 weeks was underway.
My days started as they have for the last 10 years. Get up about 7am, grab some coffee on the nude beach and lay my towels out in my usual spot next to the waterfall in the corner of the pool. It was good to see Butch and Neal that morning as they were napping on my arrival.
As usual, I wont go into a day by day replay of my stay. Instead, I will give some of the highlights, and unfortunatly, the lowlights of my trip.
As always, there were a lot of new EC's. Buffy was still there. Ashly is now in the office. Everyone else was pretty much new. I would spend most of the day at the pool. I would ocassionaly wander down to the beach to say hi or float while captain Steve navigated us around the other rafts.
The weather was actually very weird this year. Normally in December, it is hardly ever cloudy and almost never rains. This year it seemed to be sunny from about 9 to noon, then get cloudy the rest of the day. I would say it rained at least 6 of the 14 days I was there.
I have the tendency to fall asleep when it gets cloudy, so I did a lot of napping at the pool this year. What I did enjoy doing was watching Bob and the Lurker who, we believe, snuck in everyday, and see which one approached the most people throughout the day. Bob was actually a nice guy but the Lurker was a complete asshole. He would approach every couple and single girl he could find and be pretty obvious about his intentions. He was told to take a hike on more than one occasion.
One of the highlights of the trip was when a group of us stripped in the disco and danced the night away. Actually, Chris stripped me and I only danced naked for about 5 minutes. Before the disco, about 8 of the group got naked in Veronikas and danced nude on the bar for a while. I think some of the WWW group got upset because they got up and left when this happened.
We all talk about how the people you meet at Hedo are what its all about, and this trip was no different. I was so grateful that I got to get to know certain people a little bit better on this trip. Mark & Mel, Bob & Fran and Nikki & Jack in paticular. The highlight of the trip for me was when Quint & Chris left. There were about 40 of us who mooned them when they left. The biggest turn out on moonhill that I can remember.
This was Chris' first trip to Hedo. She started crying when she left because she was so grateful the way everyone welcomed her into the group. It's hard not to welcome someone as sweet as you are Chris. You are outgoing, funloving and very sweet. You and Quint make a great couple and helped make my trip enjoyable. Nice buzz of the beach Quint. Tim Air was too quick because I dont believe anyone had a camera ready for a picture.
Thanks to Jean & Randy and Rick & Coleen for keeping me company the second week after everyone had left.
As always, Neal and Butch. You guys are the best. Neal has a girlfriend now, so he only stayed for a week this year, compared to last years 35 days. You still gave me some of the biggest laughs of the week and you will always be my idol. Butch was without his partner in crime, John, this year.
John also has a girlfriend. Good to see he has graduated from Jamaican hookers to pussy whipped in such a short period of time. Hopefully you can bring her next year.
Being a single a guy, it's always nice to be accepted by the couples at Hedo. That to me means you are trusted and I will always be grateful for that. Anthony & Kathy, Mark & Mel, Ursula & Keith, Pam & Kevin, thanks for the chats and letting me hang with you guys.
Bob & Fran. It was so nice to get to know you guys a little better on this trip. Thanks for the pics and thanks for the beads Bob. Franny, stay as sweet as you are. Bob is one lucky guy.
The couples I have known the longest, Jim & Jodi and Steve & Lana, as always, make me feel so comfortable when they are around. Steve, thanks for the trips on the raft, and Lana, thanks for the cranberry juice every time you came to the pool. I hope you enjoy the sunglasses. I cant tell you about some of the things Jim and I talked about, but thanks buddy for hanging at the pool and our chats.
Thanks also Rupe & Pat, Denver & Seth, Denny, Diane, Joe from Lauderdale, and Ian and his wife. Thanks for being such great people. I'm honered to call you friends.
Many thanks to MJ & Mark and Stacey and Richard. Thanks for the shopping trip and the photo shoot. Thanks for keeping me company my last 2 days at Hedo.
I never did get her name, but thanks to the girl who blew me at the hottub. She swam up, blew me and left. She never sais a word. I was used like a piece of meat. As Gen. Patton once said, " God, I do love it so ".
Not to dwell on the negative, but just as people make Hedo as enjoyable as it is, the people can also put a damper on things. The Washington strippers were somewhat of a pain in the ass. They put on a 4 hour show one day and were followed around by a number of locals with shorts and towels on. They were drunk 20 hours of the day, threw up in the hottub and were very obnoxious in the dining room at times. Passing out at the tables and spilling drinks every where they went. One of the strippers found out I did a radio show and asked if I was going to mention all the models at the resort. I said what models. She said us. I said you arent models, you're strippers. I'm not usually that rude, but they got on my nerves. They said they were there for a calender photo shoot. I saw the guys taking the pictures one morning. They had $20.00 dissposable cameras. Professional photo shoot.
There were a few other instances that got annoying. Some pervert in the hottub grabbing woman as they came out of the bathroom. Another kicked out of the hottub for groping and leaving with a condom on. Some woman throwing our ball over the Point Village screen because she said it splashed her. Another woman yelling " stop it " because the shadow of the ball going over her head was making her nervous because she just had arm surgery. What?
The best was the guy would took my chair one day. I said, exuse me, but I was laying in the chair, thus the towel and table with my belongings next to it. He said that his wife needed a chair and the pool was for couples and I should go to the beach. I have never been so pissed off in my life.
Before I left to find another chair, I asked him how many times he had been to Hedo. He said this was their first. I laughed and went on my way.
If you go back and look at some of my past trip reports, you will see I very rarely mention anything negative. The reason I bring some up in this report is because I'm not the only one who noticed these things and were upset about them. These are some of the reasons that a lot of people on this trip were talking about not going back next year.
I find there are to many people going to Hedo having no idea what the resort is all about.
Hedo is about the people and having fun. Not going and being miserable and bitching about everything. Dont get me wrong. The majority of people get it and are as warm and friendly as can be. There are always going to be a few bad apples. But there were quite a few bad apples on this trip. There were about 10 occasions on this trip that I said hello to someone and was ignored. I'm just trying to be friendly, not trying to hit on your wife. Maybe I'm over reacting, but this is the first year the behavior of some of the guests has bothered me. I'll leave it at that. The positives, however, far out way the negatives.
I want to thank the staff at Hedo for making my stay enjoyable. Faye, Delano, Joe Smith, Teddy, Marcia,Delroy, Scumba, Raga-Raga, Cleopatra, Buffy, Rory and all the rest.
Thanks to all those I mentioned earlier for taking in a single guy and making him feel welcome. You guys mean the world to me and is the reason I return to Hedo each December. For those rude and unsociable people I talked about, you may want to check out other resorts for your next vacation.
Thanks again to Denny for supplying this site so we can all keep in touch throughout the year.
I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday season and look forward to keeping in touch throughout 2003.
