Wow! Ten days since we returned from our virgin HedoII
trip. It has taken that long to get over the hangover.
You really do need a few days to rest after a week at
Hedo.
Air Jamaica from Atlanta was great and TimAir is
the best. About 10 minutes after picking up luggage
TimAir had us in the air. Taxi was waiting in Negril.
Five minutes at Hedo and we are in our requested
H-block room. Left Atlanta at 8:40 a.m., had one of
Delroys Dirty Bananas in hand by 1:30. Hope things go
that smoothly everytime. Equally as easy on the return
trip. Baggage check at Hedo was quick. Didn't have to
leave resort until 3:30 for a 5:40 flight. Kept a
carry-on and friends let us use their shower. Worked
out nicely. Negative side is we had to spend night in
Atlanta both ways and a five hour drive to our home in
Tennessee.
Basically, we LOVED Hedo. We were a bit nervous
at first, but it didn't take long to get into the
swing of things. Dive shack filled up our float and
away we went. Met two veteran couples on floats that
made us feel welcome and relaxed. When we got out of
water, some skinny Jamaican man yelled...Sir! Sir! Get
the hell off of my beach. Our intro to Augustus. He
was a lot of fun all week. We enjoyed brief chats
daily with Gus, Robert, and Delroy. Some staff were
friendlier than others, but these guys were great.
Ashley was our favorite female staff member.
We met several people that we had brief contact
with from Denny's list. Everyone we met was really
nice. We spent a week at Couples Ocho Rios last year
and it was great, but not much socializing among
guests. Hedo folks are the friendliest folks in the
world.
Second day Mav and Myra arrived. We had e-mailed
each other occasionally and became friends before the
trip. It was good to finally meet in person. We went
straight for the Vodka Slushies. They introduced us to
several friends they met from last year. If you saw us
you probably thought we were life-long friends. It is
so true what everyone says. It is the people that make
Hedo. Watch for a trip report from Mav & Myr. They
kept a stardate logbook. We can't wait to read it
ourselves to find out what we did on our trip. LOL We
do remember some of it.
As for drinks and bar service, we were well
pleased. All drinks we tried were well prepared. We
never had to wait long at the beach bars. A couple of
times the wait was a little long at the main dining
room and the disco. Mainly toga night and PJ night. Be
friendly, smile, and thank your bartenders. They
remember.
The food was mostly good. Enjoyed the omlettes
and fresh fruit for breakfast. Always had Roberts
grilled cheese and fries for lunch. The jerk chicken
at 5:30 was out of this world. Evening meals were
okay. Lobster night was great. When we go back we will
probably just do buffet at night, watch the
entertainment, and keep energized. A quiet two hour
sit down meal at Pastafaris just puts us to sleep.
Disco was lots of fun. Only negative here was
Jamaican men were a little pushy about breaking into
our groups dance train. I guess it was to be expected
with all the hot looking ladies on the dance floor.
Mav and Myra, you guys are the king and queen of the
disco. Where do you get your energy?
Those couple of nights when we were a little
tired, it was so relaxing to cuddle on a quiet dark
beach and have a little privacy. We heard lights have
been installed since our trip. What a shame. Hedo
managers/owners should check out Dennys message board.
What more could they ask for. They should see Dennys
site as a management tool...Worlds greatest survey
card!!
The waterslide was so fun. Step out of the
disco, strip, and take one wild ride. We are proud of
you Myra.
Snorkeling was a treat. We were virgins here too.
Thanks Mama and Greg,T & L, for helping us locate some
beautiful marine life. We saw two rays, a few squid,
many colorful fish, and a huge lobster (no Tennessee
catfish).
Sunset cruise was fun. Should do once, but would
not do every trip. We had gorgeous sunsets 6 out of 7
nights.
Hot tub was always a fun place to be. Hey
Mav,maybe next time we can teach everyone when to
start singing Rocky Top.
Hedo is truly a magical place. We hope to return
every year if they can keep the rates reasonable.
Hedo Hugs to all the wonderful people we met. Jim
& Carol,Beth & Jeff,Dawn & Rick,Amos & Teri,Brian &
Ann,Elyse, Barbara, Bob & Pam, Steve & Tammy,Kristen &
Neville,Dave & Shona, Eric, Hill, Dan, Larry...
(Forgive us if we missed anyone). and all the friendly
people we talked with but never got a name.
Giant Hedo Hugs to Mama& Greg, T & L. And to Mav
& Myra what can we say? You guys are a blast! We truly
had the best vacation of our lives!!
We were a close couple before the trip. However,
what we heard is true. We feel closer and more in love
now than ever before. More Hedo magic I guess.
CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR!!
XOXO Duane & Tammy (or as Delroy says..
