Chad and "Rasta" Rita
October 24th to November 3rd, 2002
We've been to Hedo before but never on this special week. After reading about
the Halloween and Anniversary activities we decided to give it a go. It would
be nice to try a new week where they were monotony breakers and completely new
people to meet.
I won't bore you with the travel details other then to say it was the quickest
and easiest of all our trips. The bus ride NOT FROM HELL only took about an
hour and a few mins. Of course we never thought it was that bad in the first
place. Chad with his glass half full!
Check in was easy and we got our requested area, "H" block 2nd level with a view
of the Banyan Tree. Only room problems were the coffee machine didn't work and
no provided alarm clock. I suppose we could have called the front for new items
but we weren't very concerned.
We did some minor decorations for Halloween and this time around we remembered
to bring a few special things.....candles and CD's. I also brought a MP3
walkman that feed it's sound to a IROCK music gadget. It allows for wireless
transmission to any stereo, house or car. Otherwise I was able to play several
CD's holding up to 160 songs per CD, thru the room boombox wirelessly! Chad
<-----TECH GEEK!
Apologies for to my neighbors for playing Dean Martin too much while getting
ready for dinner.
Moving along. Resort was looking nice and the new improvements were in fact an
improvement! We had a very active vacation. Over the course of the 10 days we
never left the resort yet we played lots of volleyball, pool games, did some
weights, ping pong, trapeze, rock climbing.....bla bla bla.
We quickly bonded with several like couples and started enjoying our time there.
We're 30 and 26 and we can make friends with any age but in reality it helps to
have a few couples near your age. First part of the week we pretty much hung
out alone till we meet 4-5 other couples and formed a group of friends to be
with. Again, we don't mind any age but with like ages come like interest and
similar Hedo activities.
Several of the wifes/girlfrineds in our group decided to participate in the Miss
Hedonism Pageant. With my glass still half full I'll say they'll all never do
it again. They enjoyed the experience but the extreme lack of origination and
time required frustrated many of the participants. Also many repeat guests were
appalled by the winner of the contest although it didn't shake us up much. (all
the ladies spent days preparing for an elegant pageant and the winner won by
pure obnoxious shenanigans) All in all they had fun in the end.
Highlights of our vacation: Dancing with our new Latino friends learning how to
move our steadfast hips to some salsa, being with the one you love for 10
straight days, socializing with the ever cool staff members, meeting some very
fun guests and just having typical Hedo great times.
Negatives: Not many other then a few days of extreme confusion with the
pageant. Oh, I don't think we'll do the second level again...to much dark stair
climbing.
Our best prank: putting candy all over Rita's bikini wearing body for the EC
staff as they went from room to room trick or treating. Should have seen they
look on their faces!! :-)
Things we forgot to do: paint a rock, get drunk before noon and bring a pen on
the trip down.
New things we did: venture to the prude blocks for a peak, slept on the hammock
under the stars, closed out the disco and spent an afternoon on the beach vs the
pool.
Point to make: Consider taking some time out of your vacation to get to know
the employees at the resort. They're people too and they really appreciate that
genuine-sincere attention you can provide in just a few minutes per day.
The Halloween Anniversary week is a great time to visit!!!
Thank you Ruth & Eric, Ian & Beckie, Nicole & Tom, Jamie & Nathen, Rolando &
Maria, Tracy & Deborah, Harold & Kathy, Tony, Holger and Lcia and all our other
new Hedo friends for making our trip very special.
Mucho amor amigos!
