Day Pass Trip December 4, 2002

So let me ask you a question.

Is it worth $100 cab ride an hour each way just to spend a few hours at Hedo?

Okay, that was a stupid question! Yes, it was worth every bit of it for a quick day pass visit.

We left New Orleans at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday on the Inaugural cruise of Carnivals Conquest. What a gorgeous new ship! A couple of weeks in the tanning bed, and two days on the top deck had our bodies ready for the sun when we got off the ship at Mobay. We had some newbie friends with us that had decided they were going to take the plunge and join us, but when we got to the cabstand they balked at the cost and the time to get there. Decision was to go to Doctors Cave Beach. Sherry hadnt bothered to bring a bathing suit, because after all we were going to Hedo, so she had to buy one real quick at the pier.

Ten minutes later, we are in a cab heading to Doctors Cave Beach and Im trying to negotiate a better rate to go to Negril. It became obvious that the cost wasnt the real issue, so I let it go. We got to the Beach and we (Sherry and I) decided damn the cost, we were going to visit our Hedo friends. After dodging a couple of guys instant on trying to sell me shrooms or ex, we found a great cabbie named Robbie. One hour later we were pulling up at the door to the best place in the world. Robbie agreed to stay in town and would meet us at 3:15. Paid the day pass fee, left our drivers licenses, and we were shucked to the buff before we were down the stairs.

The attitude seemed a little more relaxed than normal, but that was okay. We grabbed a raft and soaked in the sun between the ocean, the pool and the hot tub for the next several hours. Drinks and lunch were as memorable as always and Scumba and Delroy lorded over their domain as always. A couple of the Activity Hosts chanted,  John has a hard-on, poor John. While in the pool we met a nice couple that noticed our Conquest Mugs. Seems like they were from the ship as well. John and Marlene (not the John previously mentioned) became some more of our good Hedo friends, and we visited with them on board for the rest of the cruise. They came with a local friend, Suzette, who drove them back and forth. We would have driven back with them, but we didnt want to leave Robbie hanging.

After several drinks, back to the ocean for some last minute amore before reluctantly dragging our rear ends back into our clothes. At the front desk, Robbie was waiting for us. A quick stop for some local accoutrements and we were back at the ship with plenty of time to spare, in fact walking up to our shipboard friends just as the walked into the boarding area. They were greatly relieved to see us, thinking that we would be found in a ditch dead somewhere. Its hard to make some people understand about Jamaica and out Jamaican friends.

So would we do it again? only thing different would be that we would just go on over to TimAir and pay for the 16 minute flight each way so that we could spend more time at Hedo. Well be back to check on our room in a few months!
