Andy & Pam - October, 2002

Short visit - - Short report.

A group of seven of us traveled to Negril for the Friends of Jamaica function (thats a different trip report).  Wildcat Pam & I had told everyone how much fun we had on our previous visits  to Hedo II. and several of our bunch wanted to go with us on a night pass on Toga night.

We got to the front gate about 5PM and setting on the couches, we were promptly checked in.  Got our first mug of Appletons Estate at the main bar.   It was raining slightly, but we made a beeline to Delroys and grabbed rummingbirds etc. and hit the pool and hot tub.  We had brought along a hundred or so glow bracelets and necklaces and started passing them out.

The rain picked up, and it was getting darker, so time to put on the togas and hit the dining room.  Wildcat & I were wearing the togas recycled from our April trip, & the rest working with sheets of one kind or another.

The food in the dining room was fine, but not quite as much variety as in April.  Of course there were not nearly as many folks there as in April, so it only make sense that there would not be as big a spread.

The band was good as usual, but the talent show had not started yet, so I said lets cool off in the water slide! We shucked our togas and ran up the stairs.  The first woman with us jumped down the hole and started down squeak, squeak, This is no fun.  When we stopped laughing about trying to go down the slide without water, we called below and the attendants turned it on.  We did several good runs then went back to catch the show.  It was cool seeing folks all around wearing the glow stuff.

By now the Appletons starts to kick in, and some details get a little blurry, but I do remember a couple of fun stage acts in the talent show.  The ECs started to award prizes, and asked for anyone not wearing a toga from a Hedo sheet to come forward.  Wildcat or I (not sure which) got a bottle of Tia Maria for that one.  Next they asked for 8 brave souls to come on stage, and being full of Appletons induced bravery, I bounded forward.  This contest was Who can get out of their toga quickest which took  me about 2 seconds, but the real contest was Who can put it back on the quickest, and I couldnt figure which hole to put my head or arms through.  I think we then won another bottle for being good sports.

Now off to Veronicas to hear Dave and maybe do a song or 2.  My red toga earned me the title Caesar from Dave, and someone (anonymous) did the Piece by Piece show on the piano.  Somehow Alfred our driver got us all home to Banana Shout intact.

Now, is it worth $75 for a night pass?   Hell yes!  There were a couple of different nights in Negril that we spent that much at bars, restaurants, etc without having that much fun.  For a bonus we also got a little Hedo fix to help hold us over until next April.

One Love:
