Karl & Sheila

Our trip was 3/21-3/27/01. It was my first time and Karl's second. The first time he went alone and met a good group of people. Being that I'm a prude and he's a nude, this trip was a different experience for him. I did alot of research before this trip and kept my mind wide open because I heard negative and positive things about Hedo. The resort and the food were acceptable. The atmosphere depends entirely on who is there at the time of your trip. As far as everyone being the nicest bunch of people you can meet, depends on whether or not you belong to their group. I booked a clothing side room, but we were upgraded to the nude side. Being that Karl wanted to be nude, I decided to take Room 2232 for the whole trip rather than change rooms the second night. We did go to the tree lined stretch of beach between the water activities and the bar/pool area. Their were alot of people, male/female singles and couples who used this also and were not all nude. Karl went nude and I went in my bikini, but he went up to the bar to get us drinks because I didn't want to wander around and be asked to remove my suit. Unfortunately, some people assumed Karl was there alone until they saw him with me in the dining area and in the disco. I got the impression that the nudes are just as, if not more, judgmental of people than the prudes. This is not to say the trip was a total loss. The first three days, everyone was friendly, Karl met some nice people in the hot tub at night and at the pool during the day. On the prude side there was alot of topless women. Karl said he didn't see that much of it his last trip. The people on the prude side were friendly as well. The disco was very entertaining. Some people went nuts and others just walked in and walked right out. Toga night was fun, alot of variety. Karl met the infamous Ringman who gave him some tips on what to do while we were there. The one night we went to Veronica's a woman who couldn't sing opted to do a striptease instead. Everyone enjoyed that. Over the next four days, the crowd changed entirely. All the college kids arrived and some swinger groups arrived too. The tone was definitely rude and exclusive. Karl encountered some serious activity in the hot tub, couples and foursomes, and some guy just watching. The college kids attempted to wander the nude side, but when they were asked to disrobe, they left in a hurry. I heard many comments from both sides about the other. I don't know how much was fact or fiction. The two sides definitely didn't mix. The friendliness seemed to have left both sides. We said hi to everyone the entire trip, but at this point people looked at us like we had two heads. I also had someone call the room and ask me if I was part of the swingers group. I was stunned for a second. They should check to see who they are calling. I also saw a couple having sex with their door open. I expected to see this sort of thing, so I wasn't shocked. In conclusion I did enjoy 90% of my trip. Jamaica is beautiful and I will return again, but I don't think I'll return to Hedo. The atmosphere is too dependent on the guests and I don't want my fun dictated by someone who thinks they own the resort. Just because someone hasn't been going there for twenty years, doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to enjoy themselves. You can slam me all you want for not agreeing with everyone who posts on this board. I went to Hedo with the impression that we could mingle on both sides, but that just wasn't the case. I was prepared to go nude, but was turned off too much to even try. What bothers me the most is that Karl wanted to take me to have a good time and meet new people and have the same experience he had the first time. Good luck to anyone who hasn't been yet. Hopefully you'll have a good crowd.
