Dave & Tam - November, 2001
Dave & Tam 11/22/01-12/1/01
After a count down of 265 days and three different
sets of airline tickets the day had finally come for our great
adventure.
We left Des Moines on the 21st and flew to Atlanta
and spent the night since the airlines had canceled our same day flight from
Des Moines to Mobay. All of our flights went without a hitch. Once
in Mobay we were greeted by the Tim Air rep and arrived at Hedo at 1:15 pm
Spanksgiving Day. Room wasn't ready but we were, headed strait to the
beach and striped just as the parade went marching by. Didn't join in
since we were still carrying clothes, passports, cash and airline tickets, but
enjoyed watching everyone having a good time.
Spent most of first day finding our way around and
meeting a few people, learned how to tie a toga and dressed for dinner.
After dinner went back to room dropped off togas and went back to the beach,
decided since we would be there for toga night the following week to skip the
toga party. ( ya wait till ya read day 8)
Day 2
Woke up at 5:30 fixed coffee and headed to the
point on the Nude beach for sun rise. Had already decided this was where
we would renew our wedding vows later today. Watched the sun rise (
which we had decided we would do every morning) it was unbelievable.
After sunrise headed to the dinning room for more coffee and to wait for
breakfast. Found out quickly need to get towel for the next day because
at 5:30 am they are hard to find. Met with Lorna the wedding director at
10am and set up ceremony, ( she is the greatest.) Spent rest of day at
nude pool waiting for 2:00 which was when we had to put clothes on for the
wedding ( see attached pic). Just a little hint. Don't plan your
ceremony for the mid afternoon. We were both sweating so bad, it is
unbelievable that a little bit a clothing can make so much
difference. Thanks so much to Jimmy and Amy for taking pics and
celebrating with us and John and Robin also. Due to the excess champagne
at the reception we headed me (Tam) back to the room for some much needed
sleep ( passing out) and the cook at the prude grill
decided to give Dave some warm Pepsi to help me out, sorry Jimmy you had to be
the one to help we walk while the Pepsi was relieving me of
the champagne. We made it up to dinner and a walk on the beach then while
floating on a raft was offered some exciticy said no thanks Were all ready
there, and he paddled away.
Day 3
Woke up at 5:30 fixed coffee and headed to the
point on the Nude beach for sun rise. After sunrise headed to the dinning
room for more coffee and to wait for breakfast. Still in disbelief we are
here, spent day at beach and nude pool. Did some shopping at the
boutiques and then took a mid afternoon nap so we could see the night
life. Went down to the hot tub which was quite active and then
down to the beach to enjoy the moonlight.
Day 4
Woke up at 5:30 fixed coffee and headed to the
point on the Nude beach for sun rise. After sunrise headed to the dinning room
for more coffee and to wait for breakfast. Went snorkeling most of morning,
just at the beach. Saw lots of stuff and got some really cool underwater
pictures. Decided to venture away from the hotel to do some shopping but
didn't want to be gone to long so went to market just out side of hotel down
the road by the airport( less than 10 min walk). Most of the little
shops had the same thing but it was interesting looking at each one. We
purchased and anklet, ring and earrings. On our way to supper (dressed) we
were met by the parade to the dinning room to protest the closing of the bar
and grill at the nude beach, so we striped and joined in. No jerk
chicken bull shit, we paid for the full service, I don't care what day of the
week it is or how many guest there are, you took the same money for all of the
days we were there we want the same service all of the days. God it felt good
walking into the main bar naked.
Day 5
Woke up at 5:30 fixed coffee and headed to the
point on the Nude beach for sun rise. Snorkeled again after sun had risen and
then off to breakfast. I know getting repetitive. So I will just
tell you this was the start of all the rest of the days. Spent day at
pool and beach with friends. Not to much to tell about.
Day 6
Same start as above, but today we went on the nude
booze cruise, this is a must, we snorkeled and did the cliff jump at the
Pickled Parrott. While snorkeling in the cave, Dave was pushed up
against a rock when the tide came in a cut his leg up. That was the
downer of the trip. He was so sick by 8pm he had taken two darvacet and
was still in pain. So we missed the PJ party. But that didn't really
matter cuz we were still at Hedo for 4 more days.
Day 7 Same start as above, Dave seems to be
feeling better or the alcohol was masking the pain at this point not sure
which, spent the day at the pool and beach did some afternoon
snorkeling.
Day 8 Ditto. Spent day at pool and beach
until 3 when it was time to get back on the catamaran and party. The
sunset cruise to Rick's cafe was great, another must do.
Dave did the cliff jump this time but I declined
due to the large rock jutting out of the cliff. I took the picture this
time, since we were to caught up in the jump the first time to think of taking
pictures. Haven't seen Dave M and Kimbr all day getting a little concern,
no answer at there room, and they missed the cruise. Decided to
wait and see if they showed up at supper, just how much time can you spend in
your room? Got our togas on and went to supper, went back to the
room for a nap and set the alarm for 10pm since we had not been to any of the
evening parties we thought we could at least make this one. Woke up at 2
am guess it just wasn't meant to be.
Day 9
Sunrise yada yada yada, still no sign of Dave M
and Kimbr, so we go to the desk and see if they had some kind of
emergency. Not any that the front deck now about so we call the
room. THERE ALIVE, after a 16 hour nap they are ready to go
again. Scared us to death, spent the day taking pictures of the
resort, construction and each other at the pool and beach. Snorkeled some
and did more drinking . Went back to the room late in the afternoon to
find this NASTY letter on the bed telling us it was time to go home.
Decided to pack while Dave took a nap so I wouldn't ruin my last day
there packing. Went down to the grill for jerk chicken, since it was our last
night had to get it one more time (I could really go for some now).
Watched the sunset and enjoyed to moon light on the ocean one last time.
Day 10
Sunrise on the point with Dave M, Kimbr, Holly,
Joe, Dave and I, with 2 bottles of Champagne, yes I said Champagne, this time
I only had one glass. Then off to breakfast and to say good bye to Dave
and Kimbr, this was the only pic I got where Dave wasn't smiling, must of been
cause it was also the only one with clothes on. Checked out of our room
and in with Air Jamaica, then went down to the pool to enjoy our last few
hours of pleasure. Had to get dressed at 2:30 for our Tim Air flight
back to Mobay and off we were to reality. After landing in Atlanta we
heard Christmas music for the first time this year and realized we were back
to the real world.
Renewal of Vows 11/23/2001 on the Point of the
Nude Beach Sun rise 11/23/01 (Unaltered picture) from
the point on the nude beach.
Just wanted to say thank to Dave, Kimbr, Holly,
Joe, Hank, Carolyn, Stacy, Diane, Jimmy and Amy for the time we spent
together and making this a trip to remember.
