Chuck - 03/01

Trip report from Chuck 3/14-3/18 for Hedo II

Just got back. Was there 3/14 to 3/18.

I had a great time. Here are my thoughts and obeservations

*US Air is horrible

* Take the bus ride to Hedo once. After that take the plane.
*Service at Hedo is questionable. It is great or it can suck. I had bartenders ignore me, cooks being rude to me, and being short toweled by the cleaning lady. I think the no tipping rule is the problem. I think they expect tips and when you don't tip them they stiff you. I tipped some people and they treated me like a king. THere were people that I didn't tip and they treated me great also. It's ashame that there are some workers that do a poor  job.
* HEdo is a couples resort. I went alone. I made a mistake in that. There were almost no single women. I was told that was going to be like that but man, there were none at all.
It was all couples. This is not a place for the single male looking for action. If you are just want a realxing time then fine, but don't expect romance.

* I think the mythology of hedonism is exaggerated. No wild orgies and things like that. There is a lot nudity and couples having sex in the hottub at night. Thats it.

* Had a big problem with not being allowed to bring people or guests back into Hedo at night after going into town. Being a single male, you have to go out to meet women but you can't bring any back..that is a big negative for Hedo and is why I will never go back there alone.
*Crashed a college spring party at Margueritaville. That was fun because those college kids will do anything when they are drunk.

* Disco is pathetic. It's really small. I mean really small. My observation was that most people didn't use it...maybe thats why its small.
* Entertainment wasn't pretty good. Toga night was great! Wasn't there for PJ night. Talent show was good.
* Food was decent to good.

* Loved the beaches. You have to get on the nude beach early to get a lounge chair.

* Nude side pool and hottub was great. The built in bar was awesome. Like the nude beach, you have to get to the nude pool early to get a chair or lounger. Never went nude before and had no problem taking it off.

* THe prude side hottub was terribe but the pool was better.

* Water sports activities were excellent. I had trouble sailing though. It was my first time and sometimes I just floated in water. I also dropped my camera in the ocean while snorkeling. Lost most of my pictures which I am so upset about.

* didn't see many people playing games like volleyball and trapeeze.

*  Piano bar was outstanding
* Had a problem with not having anykind of authentic jamaican food. THe scotch bonnet restaurant was always packed. I wanted Jerk Chicken and did not get any!!! Sure I could have taken a bus into town but I wanted to be on the beach during the day.
*Prices were $$$$$. Gift shop screws you big time because Hedo is prettty isolated. They wanted $5.00 for a USA today! $15.00 for a new camera. Didn't even have those disposable camers with flashes. THat was was an issue after I droppped my water camera in the ocean and my other disposable camera's flash stopped working.
*Weather was mostly cloudy in the afternoon. Sunny in the morning and clear at night.

* took the $45 cruise to the snorkeling spot and the caves and cliff diving. which was should have been fun but that was when I dropped my camera.

* Overall great time. I think it depends on the people you meet. That's the key.
*Wouldn't mind going back but there are many other places I want to see also.
