Bob & Laurie

January 06 - 27, 2001

This was our 10th trip, and yes we were with the "lifestyle" crowd. We usually stay for 14 days but since we knew people for the 3 separate weeks we decided to stay for 21 days. We will spare you transfer details except to say that Tim Air did their usual good job. When we arrived in MBJ on the 6th there were numerous people at the Tim Air desk who arrived without reservations. While Tim Air did their best to accommodate them, the unannounced arrivals were besides themselves that people with reservations were going ahead of them. The rep politely explained that we had a reservation and therefore we were to be accommodated first. The verbal abuse by these zealots towards the Tim Air staff was totally uncalled for. I am amazed how the reps kept smiling, I would have lost it.

It was a little cool on the day of arrival but Sunday morning was as great as it would be for the next 14 days. The 3rd. week wasn't as nice weather wise. The seas where as high as I had ever seen at Hedo. The breakers were coming in over the top of the main dock. Water sports were all totally shut down for 2 days with only limited activity on the 3rd day of the rollers.

Some quick highlights of the three weeks:

a.. we had lobster the first two weeks on 'lobster night', none available the 3rd week. Just like home, you can't buy it all of the time!! b.. food hasn't changed significantly in the 8 years we have been going. We don't go for the food. c.. entertainment is essentially unchanged. We tend to 'cut out' when it starts in the evening. That is not because we don't think it is any good. If you haven't seen it before, stick around for the show! We do miss Elvis though...... d.. in Pastifaris (sp?) the food was great however, my only complaint of the whole trip was how the service in there has declined. The servers used to be so attentive. Now you have to chase them down to get a refill of wine. I gave them the benefit of the doubt initially just chalking it up to a bad evening at first. However, we ate there 5 times and it was always the same. Too bad...... e.. Beer taps appear to be gone for good. They were gone in March last year but I was hoping they would reinstall them. f.. Sex police were non-existent. There was even sex on the beach at 2 PM. (no, not the drink) g.. Water quality in both the hot tub and the nude pool was as bad as we had ever seen it. A couple of days you couldn't even see your feet while standing in the pool. h.. rooms were as expected i.. showers in the rooms were the same. j.. they have Bailey's at Delroys now!! Hopefully they will add Crown Royal soon. I hate Pepsi. k.. I checked my email from my room about every second day. Yes you can do it but it ain't cheap. Long distance back to our home service provider. I made a couple of quick postings on denny's page but not for long. My computer was there for work as we were there for 3 weeks. Fortunately, I didn't have to use it hardly at all. Price for calling from the room? Just under $ 500.00 US. for the three weeks. And I wasn't on long! Don't take it to go surfing. l.. Computers in the lobby are still not set up. I spoke with their computer guy and he said they are waiting for the service provider to finish. When they do get 'connected' they will be set up with 'all' providers. I have read in here about "bare as you dare" nights at Hedo. Never heard of it. Topless in the disco? This is Hedo folks, do as you like and have fun!! All of the time. Laurie would change into a topless outfit every night after dinner and we would head back up around 9:30 PM back to the dinning room bar and then to Veronica's or the disco. She also went topless to dinner on PJ night with no one saying a thing. (workers, that is)

We would also like to thank the sailors of the U.S.S. Squall for livening up the weekend of the 19th - 21st. On the "lifestyle" sunset cruise on Friday the 12th, we sighted a U.S. Navy PC class ship rounding the point past the light house (past Rick's) and proceeded to chase it down. They were great, they turned around and dropped anchor for the weekend off Negril. When we finally caught up, we 'buzzed' their ship with all sorts of naked people doing ????? to give them a show. All hands were on deck for the welcoming and all were hooting and waving their greeting as well. On Saturday morning their tender brought 20 of them to the Hedo dock. They had received "liberty" for the weekend and came to get passes. We got to know most of them quite well. Apparently, their 'skipper' (Matt) had announced when they first saw us: "all hands on deck....there are naked people off the starboard bow!" Unfortunately, they left Sunday evening around 5 PM. Made for a great weekend! I won't go into the details here though.

We skipped toga night the 3rd week and opted to go to Xtabis (sp?) for dinner. The lobster was great as was the conch. It was a little pricey but was a nice break. Besides, I couldn't endure a 3rd toga night.

Would we do 3 weeks again? Probably not, but 17 would be great. We weren't ready to go home after 14, Laurie's ship had come in!!

Of course, we received a voucher for 3 free days after staying 14 but we also won another 3 day voucher at the first Lifestyles party so we now have 6 days free to come back. We will be there for spring break for probably 9 days. I think we are addicted to something...............
