Hedo Trip Report      9/22

Bob and Susan

Our recent trip to Hedo II seemed to be a mixture of fun and frustration. We had won a free week at the managers party, and we decided we would take it 9/22. Our outlook after the tragedy that occurred 9/11 was that we were not going to be intimidated with flying. Our American flight from NY went smoothly with heightened security- the most I have ever seen at JFK. With that said we had an uneventful flight, with a trip on TIM AIR to our favorite place Hedo II. We arrived with another couple sharing the plane who were also Hedo veterans.

We checked in, and immediately got a great room, 2272, and settled in. It was clear that the resort was not very full, 22% on asking. Nonetheless we knew that it would probably be that way, given events, but we were determined to make the best of it. Hit the nude bar and pool, and said hello to Delroy, and started meeting people at happy hour. Despite the low occupancy there were a lot of first timers, and fun couples, so we had a great first happy hour, with plenty to drink, and a HOT hot tub. Susan crashed early that night, and I went to the cool Jacuzzi to chill out and found a mini party. A  couple  there decided to party with everyone in the Jacuzzi, and everyone had a great time. Needless to say  spontaneous parties happen when you least expect it at Hedo, as I have found on 23 past visits.

The construction was everywhere, around the dining area, with a steep poured concrete walk where the old path was up to the dining room. Walls were up around the area, and the old prude pool was dug up on our last few days. Hopefully there were no people in the rooms close by, since the jack hammers started daily at 6:30 am. It rained almost daily, very hard all day one day, and the paths were slick. Hopefully with the new water slide, Japanese restaurant  on the north side of the dining room, see through glass floor of a jaciuzzi above the new disco, and new prude pools, should be a  great place. It is scheduled to be done in November, but by the looks, I would suspect a  lot later. For a first time visitor I would put off the trip until then since a lot of the pleasure of a resort is getting away from noise, dust and construction. Since it was a free week for us I could not complain, but would have put it off, if the free week did not expire soon.

The food was the worst I have ever had at Hedo, and I am not picky. It was basic, and I did not see much variety in the main dining area. We ate at Pastafari 6/7 nights, and it was very good, with one pasta dish, one of the best ever, a vodka cream tomato pasta sauce. The menu changes twice a week, and hardly anyone made use of Pastafari when we were there. On two days we were the ONLY people there at 8pm. You could tell the resort was on a skeleton crew, but they did the best the could. It was great not waiting at the omelet grill, in the morning. Our friend at Roberts grill was laid off due to the slowdown, it  was sad not seeing her.

Diving was great, as only 2-5 people were diving daily, and it is still one of the best parts of the all inclusive deal. The fast boat was working well, and was one of the best parts of the trip.

Late night activities were going strong as we met several couples during the week. Hot tub was active nightly, and as usual, after PJ party. Open sexual acitivity was sparse to none during the day and happy hour. But at night there was an active party element. There were no Vinnies, but a couple Wallies. I must say that after 24 trips I can definitely define different types of people there. There are of course Vinnies and Wallies, but also the couples can be divided up. There are clique couples that party within there own group, and rarely venture outside the group. They party together, and for the most part are newbies, first time nude, and do the usual activities that involve some touching, like twister, but do not venture beyond that. By that I mean no sexual contact between them, that we could tell. Then there are the voyeur or exhibition couples, who either want to watch, or be watched. They leave the door open to their room, or have sex on the grass by the hot tub, but strictly alone. There are full blown swinger couples that party with everyone and his brother, and  keep score by the week. There are couples that also come to Hedo with the husband watching the wife or girlfriend have sex with multiple males, we have counted 7 at one time on prior trip, 4 on this trip. There then are couples like ourselves who like to meet one couple and party  in the hot tub or room. This week we met   two great couples, and had one of the best Hedo times we ever had. I mean no disrespect or pass no judgment on anybody. Hedo is for everyone, and to their own pleasures. But someone had asked me what to expect as far as sexual activity, and this was my observation on the types of people who are at Hedo II. Sometimes  Hedo has a majority of swingers, such as in January, October, or 4th of July, but these are the types I have seen in 17 years of going to Hedo. Added to that are the singles, who can fall into any category, male and female.

Well every good time had to end, and we bid goodbye. Took the bus, big mistake, the road was the worst I have seen, security was tight, had to be at the airport 3 hours before departure, but passed the time at the new Marguritaville on the second level, a great addition. TVs with sports, cold beer, and great food. Returned to New York and will be back sometime next year.
