Steve and Sharons Trip Report Hedonism II - October 7-14, 2000

Introduction - This was our third visit Home in a year and we are definitely hooked. When we returned, we immediately started packing for the next trip.

Trip Rating - 9 +

Check-In - We booked through Lifestyles and thought that would save some of the hassle. Oh well, the resort was 65 rooms overbooked, and in that situation, nobody is immune. After some delay, we got the room we paid for, and felt lucky at that. Many of those hanging out in the lobby looked less than pleased.

Whats New at the Zoo - 1.) There is another restaurant on the property ... well, at least its there during dinner time. Its the Jamaican restaurant Scotch Bonnet, and its on the deck of the Prude Pool every evening. Full service is provided and reservations are required. We didnt try it, but plan to next time. 2.) The drink waitress on the nude beach that was there in January has vanished without a trace. 3.) During our stay, the walkways on the nude side were being repaved. My feet are much appreciative. 4.) Bunny is back. Im not sure if he is working, but we did see him there. He seemed weak but in great spirits.

Transportation - Uneventful in both directions. Oh yeah, the road STILL isnt finished (grin).

Food - Pretty good, as usual, except for 1.) No lobster tail and 2.) Pastafaris was simply lousy this time. The service was slow, even by Jamaican standards, and the tomato sauce for the pasta was so hot it wasnt edible, even for those of us that enjoy very spicy food. Rumor has it that the chef is new.

Weather - A brief shower most every afternoon, just after lunch time. Hot and partly cloudy for the remainder.

The Sex Police - Vanished with the drink waitress.

Towels - More difficult than usual to find. Stock up.

Our Room - Room 2258 is the best kept secret at Hedo. 1.) Top floor = no noise from above. 2.) Near the steps = less walking once youre up there. 3.) Just close enough to the dining room. 4.) Just close enough to the nude beach. 5.) A pretty decent view of the water without added expense. 6.) Great water pressure and consistent temperature.

Things that dawned on us this time around - 1.) If you took a bunch of teenagers and made them instantly middle aged, then sent them to a camp with no adult supervision, Hedo would be the result. This is a good thing. 2.) At night, if you sit at the end of the jetty/fish hook and face the Nude Bar and Nude Beach Rooms, it looks and feels like the Disney World ride Pirates of the Caribbean with only the good stuff included.

Thanks - As always, our thanks to Denny for this board, and to Chris for her book. Your efforts make the long months between trips less painful.
