Steve and Sharon's Trip Report

January 8-15, 2000

Introduction - This was our 2nd trip to HedoII, our 1st being just 12 weeks prior. Because of the short span of time between trips, this will be a comparison to, and often a continuation of, our October Trip Report. Without reading it first, much of what follows here will seem incomplete.

Getting There - Much of what we didn't expect last time was consistently the same. The flight was on time, nobody tried to sell us drugs in the airport, and the Ride From Hell was still no big deal. It was great to be back.

Check In - Because we booked through Lifestyles Tours & Travel, things were far better than last time. Jump off bus, run to Lifestyles Desk, get key to room that we paid for. A dramatically better scene.

Alcohol - We discovered Rum Cream on this trip. Can anybody tell me why I can't find this elixir of life back here in the states?

Food - Very much the same as last time, which is a good thing. Pastafari's was wonderful as usual, and Robert was in rare form. As I write this, my mouth waters for a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato.

Sex and the Dreaded Sex Police - As far as we could tell, the sex police have been replaced with a 3 piece band by the hot tub during happy hour. This is as it should be. We are all adults and nobody seemed to object. We still saw little or no activity in the cave. Do people really go in there?

Entertainment - This was of less interest to us this time. We saw it all in October and were OK with missing much of it this time. R and R were more the order of the day.

Our Room - We were in H Block this time, and loved it. No brown tap water this time, but fluctuation in water temperature is no better. No problem Mon.

The Weather - Perfect ..... oh, a little rain, but never when it mattered. Mostly sunny the majority of the time,  which made for some fantastic sunsets.

New Friends - Our circle of friends was smaller this time, but quality is what counts, and we certainly have no complaints in this department.

New Experiences - This time we tried some new things:

1.) Disco dancing - more fun than we expected, if only for a few minutes

2.) Glass bottom boat - it's a whole different world down there.

3.) A place to hang out - Under the 2nd or 3rd palm tree down from Robert's. We have found the perfect place to relax and enjoy. If you are ever looking for us, look there first.

Our Thanks to -

1.) Tony and Linda - Interesting, funny and very easy to be with. We really enjoyed the time we spent together.

2.) Kat Grace and Roberta Valdez from Lifestyles Tours & Travel - You are a class act and an asset to the company that you work for. It's truly a pleasure doing business with you.

3.) Denny Pasternak and Chris Santilli - For all the same reasons as last time. You are truly the information Gurus of Hedonism II.

Homeward Bound - Same schedule, but I guess we were ready for it, so it didn't seem as bad. We spent the morning on the beach and tried not to think of the upcoming trip. It worked out well for us.

DIF - Big time DIF. We count the days until October and hope to hit the lottery in the mean time. We heard of a guy who hit it big and was asked "How long have you been here?"  Reply: "I don't know". Next question: "When are you leaving?". Reply: "I don't know."  .........  We can always dream, can't we?
