Hedo Trip Report 4.23-4.30

It was a trip we were truly dying to take.  Of course being first timers it met and exceeded all of our expectations and there were really no first time nerves about ripping off our clothes and running around in the “scud” (British term for nekkid) all week.  This isnt a day by day report – I don’t think that would be possible because there would be too many blanks.

The trip there was thankfully uneventful and the arrival in Mobay was, of course, as outrageously disorganized as everyone said it would be.  Jumping from line to line as new ones opened got us through immigration fairly rapidly, but you definitely had to keep your wits about you.

We tried the bus on the way there – and ended up in a taxi with four guys from New York – who we reconnected with and enjoyed the company of  during the trip.  The trip wasn’t so bad, beer stops and pee stops on the way helped and we were there before we realized it.  The flight back was good and a lot quicker – somewhat disconcerting to be on such a small plane though.

We got our room with no trouble and it was in the H block, quiet, garden view and close to everything, without the noise.

My advice to all first timers is this – remember that the free booze will still be available tomorrow – they wont take it away after the first day.  If you choose not to heed this advice, remember that the bathroom floors are slippery when wet, and that if you take your favorite sandals to the pool and leave them by the bar, that they may not still be there at midnight when you return to retrieve them!!! (More about the sandals to follow).

Yes, I was the poor unfortunate who busted up her arm falling over dead drunk getting out of the shower, and consequently had to spend the rest of the week with her arm raised out of the water (pool, sea, hot tub, shower) above my head to keep the dressings dry.

It still hurts by the way – for anyone who may be interested, Im convinced I cracked the bone or something.  Either way – Ill be paying the price in my old age with arthritis of the left elbow!!!  Thanks to Woody and Linda for bathing it (appropriately) in vodka to keep infection at bay.  Incidently, it is very difficult to shave under your right arm pit when you left arm is stuck straight out and wont bend!  Thanks Greg for indulging me.

Each day was a round of early morning coffee on the beach – the best time to be down there and perfect for picture taking.  It is so quiet and peaceful before the music and boozing commence for the day.  Breakfast, more lazing, lunch and then boozing, swimming socializing.  Early day on the beach recovering from last night with friends, later in the afternoon in the pool or hot tub watching or being involved in the action.  Listening to the loud repetitive music – “I want to see your pussy – show it to me”  (Guess you had to have been there!).

Evening entertainment – we did the whole round – the piano bar for karaoke – with the NewYawk guys – thanks to the Mayor – your dancing and singing were legendary – and to the big guy – you know who you are – you should have gotten up there and sang.  We did the PJ party, the TV cameras didn’t bother us (there was a film crew from travel channel there), but ask us if it was a wise move after the TV show airs later this year.  The Toga party was fun – especially five minutes into it – I was standing at the bar and heard Greg say – “this s**t isnt working”  and when I turned around, his toga – two pillowcases pinned together had fallen off and he was standing there butt naked. Apparently, and I don’t see the logic behind this, but there is a difference when you are standing around naked in a room full of toga’d people than there appears to be when you are running around naked all day.

We totally found our groove – great people to hang out with, we enjoyed the company of  Robin and   Deb , Connie and Kevin,  Chris and Pam,  Vicki and Jim (Jim-our Dad who ensured we were all well fed had plenty of water and doing ok), Scott and Terese, Welsh Raerbit (if you read this girl – e mail me!) and all others too numerous to mention.  It was great to eat and drink with friends in the evening and not have to pay the bill.  It is great to run around naked and know that no one really gives a damn that you have no clothes on.  It’s great to dress up and get wild in the evenings.  All in all – vacation of a lifetime.

Finally back to those shoes.  Those shoes missing on Sunday night – reappeared in our room Tuesday night.  Now I know that you are all saying “They drank too much – they were there the whole time”, but seriously – they were definitely not there and we found them almost right in front of the door when we walked in – so it wasn’t like you wouldn’t have fallen over them on a daily basis had they been there.  So if anyone can shed some light on that mystery – please do.

Would I visit Hedo again?  Without a doubt – summer camp for adults!  Next time I will definitely sail in those boats, play volleyball, get a massage etc etc.  Or maybe Ill just laze naked on the beach all day – again.
