Ed & Jeanie - 11/99

(Sorry this is late) Because we had started reading trip reports and making plans several months ahead of time, we were afraid our actual "virgin trip" would be a let-down. However, it was all we expected and so much more. Although the trip reports are invaluable as preparation for Hedo II, you can read a thousand of them and still not really comprehend the phenomenon that is the Hedo experience. Hedo is like a parallel universe, where the rules of the "real world" do not apply; where you confront your fantasies and have to decide whether to act them out or whether to let them remain fantasies; where you do things you would never in a million years do back home, but which seem normal at Hedo; where you learn not to judge by appearances or by conventional wisdom or previous experience; where you can truly relax and rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul.

Part of the attraction is the regression to a time and place where juvenile antics are perfectly acceptable, like mooning Rick's from the catamaran (or mooning the numerous sightseeing boats that pass by as close as they can get to Hedo's shoreline - binoculars and cameras in use by all aboard). Or the shaving cream tour of Sandals (which, unfortunately, we just missed). Or the blow-up male doll with the huge erection, which he sustained for 4 days (sorry I - Jeanie - didn't make his acquaintance - LOL!) A huge part of it is the people, strangers that you bond with in mere minutes. Part of it is the Jamaicans, who work so hard and are so polite and friendly and helpful. (Okay, part of it is the alcohol, which is in plentiful supply!)

Hedo II truly is "Fantasy Island." For the duration of your stay, you can totally tune out the demands of everyday life and be yourself and heat up your love life and maybe even add a couple of years to your lifespan (reducing stress is supposed to add years, right?). We're planning our next trip. We can't imagine not going back.

A special thanks to Jess and Linda (love your outfits - and thanks for teaching us how to play chess!); to Hedorick and Cindy (for the info you sent us beforehand - it was a tremendous help); to Cookie (for instructing us in the proper way to consume B-52's); to Beth and Bob ("nice night," wasn't it?); and to Lisa and Harold and all the other friends we made while we were there - and of course, to Denny for his wonderful website. Looking forward to the next chapter at Hedo II.
