Baron & Theresa - 11/00

hello all,

this is my report on theresa and my 4th trip to hedo 2. we were there from sunday to sunday, 11/12/00 to 11/19/00. it was great! we had a wonderful time.

i'm going to try and go into this and i hope you understand. i'll do my best to explain to my satisfaction how we were feeling at any given moment. good luck. remember these are "our" feelings. not open for debate, just fyi. feel free to respond if you'd like, keeping those points in my mind.

wow! where can i start? momma and i cashed in our three free days after paying for 4 on this trip. still was pretty steep money wise, but, we figured, what the hey. let's go for it. we went to jamaica in july for 10 days earlier this year. will go again this coming july 2001 with the www tour for 10 days again. we like to do july 'cause it's so darned hot and all we wanna do is stay in the water. of course, in november, the temp is not as hot and we could tell. got chilled in my favorite spot, the cool jet pool a coupla few times. could stay and usually stay there for hours. it also get's darker earlier. it's weird seeing it get dark at 6pm right at the time the jerk chicken and fish is coming up. keep in mind that it's also a lot cooler when the sun goes down. most folks are in the hot tub at that time. i'm not really into "crowds", so we have a tendency to avoid the hot tub at that time. plus, there are a lot of things happnin' under the water. not "our" groove, so, we prefer not to get involved in that phase.

this trip, we did something that we hadn't done is a while. we got involved with all activities we could that hedo offered, within reason. our last trip to hedo, we were thinking that we've done hedo now for 3 times, let's get out and see more of negril. went to roots bamboo and had a good time. this time, we didn't go anywhere, and loved it! plus the sand gravity was heavy! got involved with every theme night. we made sure that we ate wherever we were going to about 7 or so, freeing up time to have fun toward the end of the evening.

did a 50/50 thing on the beach. prude in the morning, and nude in the afternoon. absolutely loved it! the prude beach is a wonderful place to get on and chill out on! the music was so great! it was thumpin' and pumpin' mostly allatime! good jamaican stuff, a little updated jamaican hip hop. not too soft, but, not too loud. they set up their big system friday afternoon and was pumpin' most of the day and night for the beach party. friday was great! all the day long! sandals came over for a challenge volleyball game. they won and they didn't want to leave. i loved it! i know what they're going back to and believe me, it ain't fun. :-) !

view is the best! gotta good view all the way down the beach past the other superclubs. of course, their beach is phenomenal too, so you got that included. so many times, i'd park my carcass under my shade tree right next to the fake rock that's really a speaker and just jam on the music, dig on the scene, play with momma, float in the water. i was in heaven! it was a wunnerful thang!

then there was the nude side. great as usual. only heard the p***** song twice. very refreshing. but, figured out, they only play that and stuff like it when they see it's gonna work to get everyone worked up. one thing if figured out, being in the entertainment biz, is that all people need is a "reason". give folks a reason to act krazy and they will. from my post in my favorite spot, i could see most everything that went on, from the pool bar, all the way back to the hot tub. it'sa great spot! and it's MINE! i'll let folks borrow it, i'm not selfish. but, i own it! everyone else just borrows it until i get back. : - ) !

i didn't go to the piano bar one time while there, didn't miss it, may stick my head in one or two times when i go back in july with the www crew. when you're a dj/entertainer, you're used to hearing the REAL artist singing a beautiful tune. that's what made it a hit in the first place. so, someone slaughtering it, all off key, or screwing it up for the sake of amusing their friends is not "comfortable" to me. i can always handle someone who not a good singer, but, gives it their all because they wanna give it a go, but, just me, always trying to be the perfectionist which we all know is impossible, folks just messing around with a classic tune makes me absolutely cringe! so, to keep my sanity, i don't go. no skin off anyone's nose. i can hold a tune (when i want to), but, i don't go to hedo to "perform". i go to relax and forget about performing for as long as i can. but, that's "my" groove. i don't push it on anyone else.

momma and i love to dance. that's where we like to hang until late. when i got back from jamaica, this was a thread on denny p's board. something about "why are the jamaican's allowed in the disco". got my crawl up, so i replied, since it was so low in the thread, the counter said only 50 people had read it at the time of this writing, so, i decided to include this in my trip report. so, if you've seen it before, bear with me. if not, it's the way i feel about it:

"we" are in jamaica. "we" are the guests, not the jamaicans. jamaica is "their" home. if we have a problem with the jamaican people going to their own place, it's "our" prob, not theirs. the hedo disco is the most popular dance place in negril. the management knows that and sells passes to it. moan and groan, but, it's gonna continue whether we like it or not. they make good money from it. yah mon, it's all about the money, not your or my comfortability with the person dancing next, or behind, or in front of you. the other resorts sell passes to thier places too, but, no one wants to go. hhhhmmmmm, wonder why? for the very reason a lot of us bitch and moan about at "our" place. we've stayed at sandals next door 3 times. we know exactly what we're missing. absolutely NOTHING! we've stayed at the grand dildo too, for a week. i'm not gonna even git started with them. both places die at 10pm. but, not our beloved hedo. wonder why? the jamaican culture is not the american culture. the first time i went dancing in ja, about 10 years ago, it really pissed me off the way the jamaican people (male and female) would just walk right between me and the wife going where they're going on the dance floor. no "excuse me" or "pardon me", nuthin', hell, they just go. wasn't until i got the stick outta my rear end and put my attitude right, as it didn't bother me anymore. that's the way it is. anyway, i always try and remember that we're visitors and should act accordingly. please try and do the same. it will help in the long run.

i wasn't happy with the disco this time. we go to hear jamaican music. can hear all the american stuff right here in the states. dennis taylor (one of my dancing fanatic friends) would not have been happy from 11/12/00 - 11/19/00 either. lotta mambo #5, madonna, hip hop, and such. every night. the jamaicans dance to it all, they don't care. the americans bitch and moan so much, they make themselves unhappy, no matter what the dj is playing. friday night was the only night they played true jamaican music, wasn't a lot of folks in there. it was about 2am. i got my groove on and i was happy. all the other times, he was playing that other stuff. but, ya see, the folks where having a good time and i was happy for them. i play that stuff every week end, it didn't move me, but, it was moving everyone else, ergo, i'm happy!

had a chance to eat the the jamaican restaurant, the scotch bonnet, wednesday night. momma had a bit too much and was out for the night, so, i had a nice quiet dinner all by myself. took my time, ate leisurely, watched the goings on by the prude pool, the main bar, and a big group of folks that looked like they just arrived and were doing the group dinner thing. too many people trying to get to know each other and talk. note to self and others reading this: don't go to dinner with too many people. too much work. was very interesting watching that go on. wonderful meal. couldn't go again, they close it down thursday and fridays. we were leaving on saturday, so, theresa didn't get a chance to go. will do next time, a coupla times. did the pastafari's thing one night. very nice, as usual.

guess this is just about enough for this time. we'll be doing it again in july with the www thang. included, find a picture of me in my favorite spot and a picture of momma.

looking forward to the next time. take care.
